Mason Jeffrey |
The last couple weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions, changes, and amazingness all wrapped up into a life-changing experience! My last blog post was the hardest.... we were so devastated and discouraged in the adoption process, while scared to keep trying and possibly face more heart break. But today, as I write this, I am snuggling my perfect, precious son, Mason, in my arms and realizing, yet again, that God had an amazing plan. So how did this all happen you may be wondering??
We got a couple emails of new situations over the course of a few days after our failed match. It was hard to read them and even try to get excited because our hearts were so broken. We tried to make the best of changed plans and spent a fun memorial day weekend in the sun! Tuesday, May 30th we went back to work after a fun weekend away; the day went on like normal and after work we ran to Costco to get some groceries. As I was standing looking at baby clothes at Costco, my phone rang. It was one of the agencies we had been working with. I quickly answered, curious about why they may be calling. The next few minutes changed our lives forever!! They explained that a baby boy had been born earlier that day, and they were wondering if we would be interested in being his adoptive parents... CRAZY! I hung up the phone and was excited and scared as I explained to Jared what I had just been told. We prayed and asked questions and a couple hours later we were booking flights for the next morning to meet OUR SON!! All of my planning and preparations were thrown out the window as we frantically gathered baby stuff and our stuff and tried to get our house and work ready to be gone for an unknown amount of time.

Leaving Seattle!! |
Wednesday, May 31st, we flew out of Seattle and arrived in Missouri in the late afternoon, we rushed straight to the hospital to meet him! We then spent the next 11 days in the NICU with him (they were monitoring him because he was born 6 weeks early), and he was released Saturday!!! Mason Jeffrey is a beautiful, healthy, and happy baby boy!! We are SO BLESSED!

11 days old leaving the NICU!! |
SO why aren't we home yet?? At this point we are hanging out in a hotel, loving on our sweet baby boy and waiting for ICPC (the legal stuff) to clear us to come home! This process can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks, we are praying it goes quickly!!
We are so thankful for everyone's prayers for us and for Mason! Please continue to pray that ICPC goes quickly so we can come home!! Being a mom is something I have always dreamed of and was excited about, but it is seriously so much better then I even imagined. The amount of love I have for this tiny little human is UNREAL! We love you all and are thankful that you are a part of our journey to #bringhomebabytrygg!!
